NorthCore Performance Training is dedicated to assisting athletes in achieving optimum strength and conditioning. We work with clients of all levels from elite to youth. Each athlete receives a periodized program, specific to the sport and position they play.
Sport Specific Training involves functional movements that allow the athlete to be strong in multiple planes of motion. We focus on training movements, not individual muscles. The programs are designed to increase strength, size, speed, agility, power, and muscular endurance. Certain sports require more or less of each.
Periodization involves dividing up the training year into specific phases. Each phase builds upon, and requires the previous phase. Post season training starts with building a foundation. This is the time tendons and connective tissues strengthen. Muscle size is also increased and preps the body to increase strength. Power can then be built upon the strength gains. The idea of periodization is to have the athlete at peak performance upon reaching the competitive season. Each phase changes the intensity and volume of the work being done, to maximize gains. Without a periodized plan, athletes tend to over train.
